Textures to Live By

Woot! Episode three! I wonder when we will stop being so excited about counting how many episodes we have done… probably not for a while. This is a super fun episode because Katie and Sharon talk about texture, which is one of their favorite things, so we are really extra excited about it!

In the first portion of this episode the gals talk about what texture does and how it can be achieved. They also give a few examples of ways they like to incorporate texture into their work, and why they do what they do.

Sharon’s mini tutorial told us how to use Golden Fiber Paste with a stencil to create background texture in our work. Here are the step by step photos to go along with her instructions.

And here is the picture of the Golden gel medium with the micro glass beads in it. She tinted it with a few different colors for us… this stuff is great!

Katie shared her favorite technique for creating a fuax leather finish (she also uses this technique in many other situations as it is very versatile). Here are the step by step photos to go along with her instructions.

Just a quick reminder that the final entry date for our sign off contest is this Friday! Have your submission for that emailed to twoartsygals@gmail.com and indicate that it is your contest entry in the title of the email. Your sign off submission should be short, hopefully funny and/or witty, and awesome. We will announce the winner on our Facebook page on Monday, April 21st.

As always, we hope you enjoyed the show. Next week will be a pretty rowdy episode about adhesives, so make sure you tune in for that.
