Not Your Grandma’s Christmas Décor

Join The Gals in a lively discussion about holiday décor. Of course you will hear all about what Sharon and Katie don’t like, but you will hear a lot more about how to break the rules the right way. The focus today is really on making holiday décor your own by bucking tradition and including the things you love in your Christmas decorating.

Because they talked about it so much, here are a few picture of Katie’s tree.

Oh! And here is Katie’s swag that she fixed up with skulls and skeletons found at The Dollar Tree and some recycled ribbon.

Here is a link to the salt dough recipe Katie was telling us about… the pictures don’t really explain how these are being decorated on this site so just to clarify, you cook the shapes you have cut out, and then after they have cooked and cooled, you go to town with paints and glitter and whatnot. You can also paint these with an egg wash that has been dyed with food coloring. In this case you would paint them first and then cook them. I would not recommend the egg wash option when children are participating. http://genxfinance.com/how-to-make-salt-dough-ornaments-with-your-kids/

And because these are seriously the coolest of the cool, here is the link to the Star Wars paper snowflake templates! You can go back and get ones from years past. You can download the entire collection, or you can just download the ones you want. Seriously, these are so cool! http://mattersofgrey.com/diy-star-wars-snowflakes/.

And instead of posting a million pictures and trying to explain everything, here is a video tour of Katie’s Zombie Christmas Village 2014!

If you have any cool holiday décor you would like to tell us about please email The Gals at twoartsygals@gmail.com , and include pictures! We love to see your cool stuff. Next week Katie and Sharon will be back to talk about wrapping your holiday gifts, so until then… make some cool shit, yo!
