In their first ever swap episode The Gals talk Altered Cabinet Cards! The intro to this one is extra long… The Gals hadn’t seen each other in a while so there was some catching up to do.

Here are the process shots from an altered cabinet card Katie did for a swap in her mail art group a couple months ago.

Look at this handsome fella just waiting to be turned into a super hero!

First lightly sketch the alterations you will be making onto the card.

Then block in colors by applying a light coat of paint to the areas you just sketched in.

Start adding shading and building texture in the areas you just blocked in with color.

Save the background for last. It gives your work crisp edges!

You can leave the original cabinet card frame or you can alter that as well.
