Episode 44: Embossing Knocks Our Socks Off

Check out the Pintrest board for this episode here!

This episode starts off with a bunch of crazy… who knows what gets into The Gals??? We know they were very excited about today’s subject so maybe that is what had them so giddy. Thankfully they pulled it together enough to talk about embossing and as promised, we have product links AND Katie made some videos!

The show kicked off with some ideas about dry embossing and Sharon talked about the really cool Big Shot embosser she has and how she uses it with metal. You can by a Big Shot from several different retailers so in the interest of being neutral, here is a link to Amazon that will allow you to see several options for this machine from different sellers. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_1?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Abig+shot+machine+embossing+sizzix&keywords=big+shot+machine+embossing+sizzix&ie=UTF8&qid=1424929980

Wet embossing was covered at the end of the show but neither or The Gals have much experience with that so we won’t dedicate much time to it here.

Heat embossing is where things get exciting for both Katie and Sharon. This is a great way to add to almost any mixed media project and the process requires minimal tools/investment. In fact, the only real tool you need is a heat gun, which you will probably find a million other uses for too! We like this one. http://www.amazon.com/Darice-Embossing-Multi-Purpose-Heat-Tool/dp/B0013LAYUQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1424931064&sr=1-6&keywords=heat+gun

And the rest is any combination of embossing inks and powders, which are pretty easy to come by these days. Both of The Gals talked about the Stampin’ It Up a bit and their old trusty favorite Ranger. Here are some link to those sites where you can search for both embossing inks and powders.

As promised, Katie filmed a couple of videos for you. She is a little embarrassed by the quality of the video but did the best with the lighting and equipment available at the moment. We are working on a way to get some of our equipment upgraded/repaired/updated around here so these videos will get better, we promise!

Here is a little tutorial she did using a clear embossing ink stamp pad and one of her favorite carved stamps.

And here is a video she did using her new embossing ink pens! We are so friggin’ excited about these pens!

Here is a link to the pens by the way. They really are cool! http://www.amazon.com/Ranger-Inkssentials-Embossing-2-Pack-Black/dp/B001M0JNVE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424918246&sr=8-1&keywords=embossing+pen
